WHAT IS INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE?

The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) defines intimate partner violence as:

"abuse or aggression that occurs in a romantic relationship."

Intimate partner refers to both current and former spouses and dating partners. Intimate partner violence (IPV) can vary in how often it happens and how severe it is. IPV can range from one episode of violence that could have lasting impact to chronic and severe episodes over multiple years (source).

HOW IS THE EXODUS FOUNDATION BRINGING AN END TO VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN?

The Exodus Foundation works

to eradicate violence against women by providing

trauma-informed, survivor-based advocacy.

Women survivors of IPV are vulnerable to experiencing houselessness when attempting to escape their abusers.

The Exodus Foundation fills this gap by providing adult women IPV survivors with emergency housing in our 2-story residential home.

In addition to emergency housing, residents are given access to crucial referrals for legal assistance from our partners, along with leads for job placement and supplemental cash assistance from the State & aid organizations.

Our team of dedicated staff

and volunteers lobby lawmakers to increase monies

for victim compensation funds. We maintain a consistent social media presence that raises awareness about IPV

The Exodus Foundation's efforts empower women

to permanently escape their abusers without fear

of becoming houseless or jobless ever again.
